sweet surprise

Just got done eating lunch with Ryan, who surprised me by coming out to Citi to have lunch with me. He was still working on a story, so I was glad he took the opportunity to drive out and see me.

Things have been busy this week. Monday we went downtown with Rachel, Todd, Meagan, and Adam to continue celebrating Todd’s 25th birthday. Had too much to drink (calorie-wise) but still came in under daily total limit (a nebulous number somewhere around 1400-1600 calories). We went to a cool place called Zen Bar, which would have otherwise been hokey and pretensious, but we had the whole place to ourselves, and the bartender gave us each a happy hour special on our first drink AND a free “Starfucker” shot, whatever that is.

I took the day off Wednesday, since Ryan was off (he’d worked Tuesday because it was primary election day) and we got a lot of wedding stuff done… registering, shopping, planning, choosing. It was a lot of fun, as each decision seems to draw the wedding farther from “chore” and closer to “biggest party ever!”

Yesterday wasn’t very noteworthy, except that we worked out for the first time all week. Bad, bad.

And tonight we’re planning on working out, too. Rachael is coming in tomorrow to buy her dress, watch season 6 of “Sex and the City” (sans WB censorship and avec swearing and sex! yay!), and to generally hang out. A trip to Goro’s will probably happen tomorrow night. Mostly, I hope she wants to just come in and relax!

Janette is in California and is apparently spending the weekend in wine country… I’m so jealous! Hope she ships some vintner’s delights our way! 🙂

Of course I’m sending you some fantastic wines……that is one of the best parts of being on the road…the ability to send great “finds” back to my friends and loved ones.

Hope that you and Rachel have a fantastic weekend and that you go to Goro’s—-nothing beats good sushi and then some R&R.

    Talk to you soon.
